Local anti-war events and protests have included:
- Public meetings
- A march and rally in Nottingham on March 8th supported by up to 1500 people, the largest protest march seen in Nottingham since the poll tax (more below).
- Protest rally, impromptu march and sit-down on the day war began with a speech from Alan Simpson MP.
- Protest vigils outside Chetwynd barracks in Chilwell.
- Leafleting at major road junctions.
- A weekly silent vigil at Sunday lunchtimes in Market Square. Numbers have varied, but 60-70 people joined the vigil the Sunday after war began.
- A weekly Stop the War stall.
- Stalls and protests in other local town centres, and the setting up of some local peace groups.

March 22nd - Biggest ever wartime protest in London

Up to half a million people showed that they still oppose the war. Reports from CND and Stop the War Coalition

March 20th - Anti War Protests When War Started

Protests, walkouts and leafletting took place throughtout the day after war began.
A protest rally began at 5pm and attracted at least as many people who came to the march on March 8th - defying Blair’s request for us to unite behind the war. After some speeches, an improptu march took place, including a sit down protest next to the Victoria Centre, and the rally ended with a speech by anti-war MP Alan Simpson. The atmosphere was excellent.

A Nottingham Evening Post report of the days events is here (it says 300 people - ridiculous!)

March 8th - Nottingham Marches Against War

See a report from Nottingham Evening post here. Note that while the organisers said there were 1500 people, the police estimated 500! (according to report on Ceefax). For my money there was at least 1000 people.
